WALDORPHIA WELCOME TO THE LAND OF WATERCOLOR FOR CHILDREN
WHY WALDORF WATERCOLOR? Waldorf watercolor painting offers a unique way to paint that children really respond to. Wet colors and painted onto wet paper so that the colors flow and blend with each other in beautiful ways. The Waldorf philosophy emphasizes teaching the whole child, and emphasize creativity and hand-son learning.
WHO WOULD THESE CLASSES BE SUITABLE FOR? Children, grades 1-6. You do not need to be in a Waldorf Program to enjoy these classes. It is a wonderful program for home-schoolers and anyone who wants to encourage creativity in young artists. It also offers a curriculum based program for Waldorf Charter Schools and other alternative schools, and their teachers. Because it is "Art for the Whole Child," the lessons offer interaction with literature, history, science and techniques of the Great Masters of Art.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM THIS PROGRAM? There are three lessons a month, with the last week a time for guided self expression from the young artist. There is a video for each lesson. Each lesson begins with a story or something about the subject of the painting. The directions are clearly presented in an encouraging and supportive manner, and the children really respond. There are also seasonal lessons included. The lessons are created with appropriate developmental experiences, that offer interesting and inspiring projects that the children love. Handouts that can be printed out offer additional support and information. besides watercolor, oils pastels, chalk pastels, and block crayons will be explored. I will be offering a program of monthly seasonal paintings for grades 1-6. Please check back .
